After 1 years, we catch up with our past Photography Person of the Year award-winner, James Balog, to see how his career has progressed.

In the short year since we spoke with nature photographer James Balog, he's perhaps seen more press events than he has forests and glaciers. The 2009 International League of Conservation Photographers League Award went to Boulder, Colo., photographer James Balog for his outstanding achievements in conservation photography. Balog's recent work includes his "Extreme Ice Survey," which documents the effects of climate change on glaciers around the world.

James Balog named NANPA's Outstanding Photographer of the Year

James Balog, of Boulder, Colo., has been named the 2008 Outstanding Photographer of the Year by the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA).

The organization will honor Balog for two decades of groundbreaking nature photography. NANPA will present the award at its 14th Annual Summit on March 1, 2008, in Destin, Fla., which will feature a presentation from Balog about his "Extreme Ice Survey" project.
